Done!

Finished socks

I washed the socks thoroughly. This morning they are dry and ready to wear. They weigh about 3 3/4 ounces (110 grams). I am saving the skeins of yarn for repairs and to reknit the foot when they start to wear thin.

There is a lot of this yarn left on the cone for making more socks, mittens, gloves, etc., so I measure the final gauge by counting the stitches and rows over two inches and note it:

This is a better measure of gauge than my initial swatch which I made by knitting across and purling back on two needles before I spun more twist into the plies. The closeup shot shows the heathering of the brown and grey plies that gives the tweed appearance.

This as been an interesting journey, thank you for following along. Please contact me if you have comments, questions, suggestions, etc.

Perhaps we can knit together in person through Knitting Meetup.

In the afternoon after I uploaded, the body of a child, presumably that of the younger of the two drowned sisters, was found near the Cherry Street bridge, just up the river from here. The body of the older sister was recovered on Memorial Day. This is the sad conculsion of a neighborhood tragedy.
