I worked on this from September 28 through October 3, 2004 using size 30 Clark's Big Ball 3 cord mercerized white crochet thread with a Boye size 11 steel hook. It came out 9.5 inches across when blocked with the picots in the 16 tips pinned.

The pattern is quite simple, mostly trebles and chain stitch. The most difficult part being the cluster rounds toward the end. There are picots, but not enough to be annoying. I like the elegant design, reminicent of columns on ancient Greek temples. The simpler parts in the center to emphasize the outer edge if a dish or vase is set on it.
