The pattern calls for using bedspread weight cotton thread (size 10) with a size 7 hook. I used Knit-Cro-Sheen with a size 6 hook which made the larger doily. Using a size 10 hook and Clark's Big Ball size 30 white thread resulted in the smaller doily, which is just under 4 inches in diameter when blocked. (24 February 2004)
