Moving day minus 2 and counting

I am having some red lentil soup from a Sierra cup, the real thing with Sierra Club embossed on the bottom. My soup bowls are packed and I need to empty and wash the sauce pan containing the leftover soup. Started packing the kitchen yesterday, two boxes are done.

Yesterday was interesting. I had hinted to Sally and Eldeen that lunch would be nice, but they didn’t realize that I got up around 5 am and packed until a Freecycle person came by and I took a break for a breakfast burger (supposed to eat red meat daily) around 9. I then did some more packing then sat down at the computer — was ready for a change of scene and food when they arrived at 11.

Sally tried to instill panic mode to help get things moving. I resisted because trying to work that way has a history of provoking severe asthma attacks for me. That was especially risky with the amount of dust exposure I have been getting. Eldeen reached things down from the upper kitchen cabinets and Sally packed three boxes of clothing and moved some of the heavier stuff around before they felt they had earned lunch. I was good and ready to go to the middle eastern restaurant down the street. Got their fish lunch, was hungrier than I thought, only brought part of a pita and some rice back along.

When we got back, it was time to go upstairs for the get together that Pat of Worthy Tomes fame had arranged. She was a gracious host and wrote a poem for the occasion. We feasted on finger food and punch, then had a delectable chocolate cake for dessert. Sally thought it had real buttercream frosting, but I think it was the kind that you make like French silk pie filling.

Pat was able to direct me to someone in the building who needed an air conditioner, one of the things I bought and had installed six years ago but which the management doesn’t want tenants to leave behind.

It was a lovely time, surrounded by friends, but was very tired by the time we broke up around 5. Remember, I am one of those people who swears by afternoon (or even more frequent) naps. I was ready to crash out when I realized that my shirt sleeve and the side of my shirt had a generous coating of chocolate icing which I suspect got there when I cut the cake.

I rested for a while, then got up and did some more packing including computer things that I don’t need for this G4.

Got up around 7, assessed the damage, not bad, the boxes are stacked higher and there is more floor showing, one table is almost cleared too. Made some backup CD’s to leave with a client, then spent some time on the web, no one came for mito chat for the second week in a row.

Need a shower NOW. The bo gets raunchy with this level of activity as my body tries to detox metabolic leftovers. Plan to take care of a few errands before resuming packing. Feels like it is going to be muggy today. Yesterday afternoon it looked like it should have been an ozone day, but we got a few cool breezes from the lake from the Pat’s 9th floor windows. Hope the lake wind fires up soon. Between pollution and the dust from moving things around that have been in the same place for up to 10 years seems to be pushing the asthma envelope, but only resulted in being a bit wheezy so far.
