Celtic trolls terrorize concert audience

Huge troll and people listening to music

For this entry, I felt the need to add a new category, just in case someone comes to this blog via a search engine and misses the humor (or humour for the British). So, here it is, Blather.

I was restless yesterday, so missed my afternoon nap. To avoid falling asleep in the evening then being up through the night (seems to happen after headaches), I made a cup of tea then went outdoors around 6:30.

Reilly at River Rhythyms

A local Celtic-rock band Reilly was playing in the pavilion at Pere Marquette Park as part of the River Rhythms series. There were two people in costume with huge heads and hands attached mingling with the audience. Well, they were a bit more confrontational than that…

They were accompanied by a young woman who was handing out flyers for Irish Fest, which starts today.

Sunset from Milwaukee River

I stayed and listened until the band went on break. The sun was setting by then. I headed across the river for the Pabst Theater where the Bo Deans were playing from the balcony. Lots of people were there and plenty of Milwaukee Iron (Harley Davidson motorcycles) was to be seen, cruising and parked. Wells Street was closed off, including the bridge. Amplification was working quite well, so I got a place on the sidewalk of the bridge and listened while deleting old images from my camera.

It was a great evening to be out, pleasant weather, lots of boats with motor and human power, including these two women who paddled under the bridge.

Two women paddling kayaks

I then went back to the park and listened to the first set of The Bridies. More lively fiddling, plus they danced as they played and didn’t miss a beat. When they took their break, it was quite dark, but only 8:30 PM when I got home. Summer is passing.

The strategy worked, I slept the night through and picked up some Milwaukee memories.
