Officially summer now

The photos are from Monday morning. I am a bit late putting them up because of being ill yesterday. The weather is beautiful today, just wish I was better able to take advantage of it.

The State Street Bridge is still closed this week. Might want to take that into account if you plan to stroll on the River Walk.

The sculpture at the west end of the Kilbourn Bridge has a plaque now – SS Core by Robert W. Smart.

I spotted these beauties in a flower bed at MSOE on the way back from the grocery store. The plantings are quite nice given the limited space available. There is usually quite a variety of flowers as well.

Earlier in the year I started using Instant Messaging (IM) because a number of people I like to hear from prefer that method of communication. I tried a variety of clients. Because my web hosting provider Dreamhost lets you set up a Jabber server, I downloaded a Jabber client and have been chatting away with friends on AOL, ICQ, MSN, and Yahoo!

This morning I was thinking how it is like the old days when I would login to my UNIX account in a text terminal and check who else was logged in. Just like then, some people are on all the time while others come and go. It is reassuring to see them there, even if you don’t want to chat.

The farmer’s market at Zeidler Square opened today. I visited it on the way to pay my electric bill. Looks like the local strawberries are reaching their peak. It was tempting, but my guts are still kind of growly from yesterday, so I just got some milk at the mall. Maybe Saturday…
