This is the official start of summer, so I got out a pair of light tan (almost white) cotton twill slacks to wear to go to the Mall for fruit and milk. It was beautiful out this morning, but the clear blue sky is now behind some clouds and it really hasn’t warmed up. Needed long sleeves and a sweater to be comfortable.
It wasn’t too bad with dropping things this week. Items included an egg, a jar of sesame tahini, and a small jar of dry yeast. Fortunately only the egg broke and it fell on the sill of the refrigerator door instead of the floor. By acting quickly, I was able to recover it to make a batch of scones.
Yesterday I was sitting on the fence about making a trip to Outpost Natural Foods. Their bulk dry yeast costs a fraction of what the grocery stores charge for the name brands and it works great. Four ounces lasts me about 6 months and it keeps well in the refrigerator or freezer, just need to supply your own jar.
I had decided to put off the shopping trip until next week when Mike came by to say he wanted to do a mailing. There was enough paper on hand but not nearly enough envelopes. The nearest office supply place is on Capitol Drive, two blocks from Outpost, so got two errands done on two bus tickets. They had hypoallergic B2 (riboflavin) tablets too. I take B1, B2, E, C, and CoQ-10 as a mito cocktail. It isn’t a cure, just a means of trying to make defective mitochondria work a bit better and and attempt preserve them from further damage. I am hoping that taking a higher proportion of B2 will help fend off migraine headaches too.
I had been taking a B-complex tablet, but at the last neurologist visit I was warned not to take more than the MDR of B6. I have been cutting the tablets. I am not sure why, but B2 seems to be difficult to get unless you mail order it. It was great to see it on the top shelf yesterday, although I needed some assistance to get it.
A further bonus was that Outpost had some nice balsamic vinegar. I splurged on a package of strawberries from Monterray, California this morning to hold me until the Farmer’s market here has local fruit. I like strawberries very ripe and usually just eat them straight, but as these were the kind that ships well, I ate a few and sliced the remainder and sprinkled them with some sugar and balsamic vinegar.
During the week we worked out what Pat wanted the logo on Worthy Tomes to look like. I was glad they decided to go with red which is also a great pun on a site about books.
