After a warm day yesterday we had some thunder storms pass nearby and this morning there is a definate chill in the air. It is overcast but after talking about the fall foliage yesterday, thought I should take and post a picture.
This is the time of year that many Christians remember Francis of Assisi (1182-1226). Guess it was coincidence, but several things came together.
I watched another business news program last night with reports of the artificial universe of abstractions with the goal of increasing monetary wealth. I make myself watch things like this because I need to understand that for many people this is the only reality they know.
An email message from an acquaintance who has studied Feng Shui for years came suggesting that an excess of material possessions can cause stagnation and feelings of confusion.
Then I listened to another program where a politically conservative leader lamented that his movement’s support had resulted in graft and corruption. Plain old greed that liberals and conservatives both find contrary to their values.
Then we have St. Francis giving up worldly possessions and a comfortable life. He even suggests viewing the natural world not as an enemy to overcome or a hindrance to accomplishments, but instead as consisting of entities that are like close family members to be appreciated and respected.
Makes you think…
