Haluska

  • 1/2 Cabbage, shredded
  • 1/2 of an 8 oz. package of egg noodles
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 3 Tablespoons Butter or oleo
  • 1 Tablespoon Sugar
  • Salt and pepper
  • Shred the cabbage. Cook the noodles according to package directions. Chop the onion and saute in the butter or oleo. Add the shredded cabbage and cook. Sprinkle on the sugar, salt and pepper and cover to steam. Add the cooked, drained noodles, stir and serve hot.

    This simple but delicious recipe came from my aunt Florence Burdett and her Slovak neighbors in Ford City PA.
