The change - 1998
When I moved to Wisconsin in January 1984 (the last winter with lots of snow that lasted for a long time here - it was magnificent!) it was for a job in private industry. Within two years I was taking the 10 bus to the Medical College of Wisconsin. Following that was the position in the Geosciences Department at UW Milwaukee and the transition from a computer-literate scientist to a computer support person.
Toward the end of last year, there were a lot of changes going on at UWM and UW System plus a feeling that many things were finished or had gone as far as they could. One day, while under the influence of the anaesthetic from a muscle biopsy, I agreed to an interview offered by a former supervisor.
